To say that woman enjoy shopping is probably the understatement of the century. Maybe it’s a thrill, amusement, a way to relieve stress aka we’ve all heard of shopping therapy, or the simple sheer joy of finding a pair of stilettoes that elongates the legs while exuding bearable comfort. What ever the reason there’s definitely an excitement in shopping, and do we ever really need a reason to splurge? Sometimes we don’t and sometimes we shop for a cause and that’s exactly what went on at the OCFRA Super Saturday Charity event, where guessed sipped, shopped, and made flower crowns for a cause. And that cause is to create awareness in woman, to fight against ovarian cancer and continue ongoing research by Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance.
QVC put on an amazing event and what a breath of fresh air it was to see so many celebrities come together to shop and support the OCFRA fund. They didn’t just walk the red carpet and quickly scurry out, they were shopping, and enjoying a day filled with Pop Chips contests at which I won a Yoga mat, flower crown creativity and shopping, shopping shopping. Did I mention shopping, but it’s a completely different experience knowing that what you’ve got on is directly going to OCFRA. Yes, 100% of the proceeds were donated to the charity to benefit a worthy cause.
The 3rd annual event was hosted by Rachel Zoe and Molly Sims at the historic Barker Hanger Airport in Santa Monica. Yes, the planes were flying close but so was the Mary Kay cotton candy, as were the shades of lip-glosses. It was a gorgeous day, with perfect LA weather, Chrysler Pacifica test drives, Sprinkles Cupcakes, discovery of a beyond amazing hair care line called Newhairline, and full house star Stephanie Tanner in the house. Of course now it’s a Fuller House featuring Jodie Sweetin all grown up. Molly Sims looked stunning with her baby and husband as she gushed about how much this charity means to her. I got to share some words with her and there’s definitely a strong support on her part to be a part of a charity that really encourages women to be aware and take care of themselves. Not only is she fabulous but she’s passionate about facilitating awareness, and raising money for Ovarian Cancer research.
The event was super stylish and yes Molly Sims talked about her stunner heels and dress for the day out. My outfit on the other hand was geared to entertain a comfort factor while still styling the day time look. I chose a bright shirt by Single Dress; Galina Sobolev has that unique design that excites enough personality into an outfit to let everyone know summer time has officially arrived. Paired with Stuart Weitzman gladiator boots and Alice and Olivia Blue Shorts. After all June gloom is just below July sunshine that sparkles our smiles while captivating the Fashion Trend Forward Sparkle in our step.
