Sundays are perfect days to brunch, discuss your dreams, reflect on the week and just discharge from the events of the dailies. It’s a time to drink mimosas, smile and eat great food, that’s why I’m excited to share my Firefly brunch experience. Last Sunday I was invited to preview the Mothers Day Brunch buffet at Firefly Studio City. I was actually so impressed with the brunch, I made sure to ask if this brunch is special to mothers day, or if it’s something they have going on every Sunday. Lucky for Los Angelinos and those visiting, they have a supreme Sunday brunch every weekend!
The Firefly brunch buffet was adorned with a variety of mimosas and bloody mary drinks. It was simply sensational, featuring three different mimosas on the menu. Choose from peach, tropical passion fruit or standard orange, to top off the brunch drinks. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that mimosas are a staple brunch drink, it flows perfectly into the breakfast to lunch transition. The all around atmosphere was superb, the ambiance is very quaint, with a sophisticated décor which dramatically changes. The inside portion is reflective of a library, while the outside is an outdoor patio garden. This is the place where you want to celebrate happy occasions, perfect for Mothers Day, or even a baby shower. There was actually a baby shower being celebrated during the tasting.
Now onto the food, styled by executive chef Chad Mandel. There was a selection of cured meats, crab, ceviche, shrimp, and the salmon was baked to perfection. They even had avocado toast, because what LA girl could complete her meal without a bite into avocado something. I love avocado and eggs, which brings me to the next station featuring personal omelets. Cooked to order on two skillets, one for the veggies and the other for the eggs made this an omelet to remember. There was lamb, brisket, salads, hashbrowns, you name it, this buffet had the works brought out of the Firefly kitchen.
Is a meal really complete without dessert? I didn’t think so! The carrot cake and house made cinnamon sugar doughnuts definitely finished off the palette on a happy note. The food was spectacular, the ambiance was delightful, and if you’re in Los Angeles and looking for a way to spend Mothers day, the Firefly restaurant will exceed your expectations.
Happy Mothers Day to all the women out there celebrating; you are the ones shaping the children of tomorrow.
