The artist Film 2012

The Oscar nominations are in and the buzz around town is that…. Well not so fast! We were inaugurated into award season with the Golden Globes and are now trotting to the Oscars with “The Artist” nabbing quite a bit of the spotlight. The film was exceptional, with a great cast, and a directorial vision that captures a silent experience.

Leaving the cast speechless and the audience impressed, Berenice Bejo, “The Artist” was obviously nominated for best supporting Actress. If you haven’t seen it yet, then embark on an adventure to 1927 where Hollywood filmmaking began to change.

Foer unlocks a healing Journey for Oskar Schell’s Key : Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

Just a few days ago I had a conversation with my former graduate classmates regarding Jane Eyre’s proper names, text locations, Northern England and of course the famous Mr. Rochester.

It’d been quite a while since I’d last picked up the Bronte’s Penguin Classic off my book self, but I was eager to discuss the heroin character whose manuscript still survives in the British Museum. A quick no surprise disclaimer as this happens every now and again; because instead of networking at after work mixers or happy hours, Literature graduate students tend to commence apropos to the novel.

Bringing me to the next manifestation of text as film.

Authorship is like a spinning wheel that occasionally gets granted a film. So while we’re still on this revolving tangent, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is definitely worth seeing. I remember discussing Jonathan Safran Foer’s writing style, a modern author that took the leap into postmodern text. His use of colors, images, and word placement on the page connoted a readership that not only participated in Oskar Schell’s healing journey but began to actively search for the sixth borough with him.

Although The Film is essentially melancholy it is extremely touching and definitely a must see. It is the story of a young boy’s determination, faith in humanity and compassion. As Oskar runs through the city to unlock one last mystery linked to his dad (who died in the world trade center), he finds solace and courage among the eclectic individuals who rarely fail to offer him a sympathetic hand.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is heart-wrenching, imaginative, and moving. A definitive reflection of how niceties shouldn’t be taken for granted: simple or complex.

Devil Wears Prada Culture Theorist

Tuesday, September 20, 2011 2:50

What determines the classification of style? Lets maneuver a Post- Modern approach in which we take a ride around the corner of culture theories ability to Segway into creative appeal of not only the senses but the visual aspects that determine significance. The Devil Wears Prada, Editor in Chief made a quaint point which exposed all the hypocrites that believe that they don’t necessarily participate in the discourse of fashion.

By pointing out the outdated and lackluster pride with which Andy paradoxically values her diminutive idea of what fashion is, she instead begins to criticize and categorizes her as the lowest tiered participant that seems to be hindered by her factual capitation.

This inturn leads to a lack of individuality, as she becomes hindered and unable to flourish. However when she comes to the realization that a whole industry is underway, things change as does she.

Taming our Tans

It must be that time of year again. The leaves haven’t quite initiated their changing colors, the sweltering heat is in the hundreds and if you ask any surfer they will tell you that their board is perfectly polished ready to slide against the suns salty waves. Nevertheless Labor Day has passed, Fashion’s Night Out is just around the corner and even though the US Open has been delayed due to weather conditions, I’m sure runway couture has every fashion editor running around New York City fabricating more than just stiches and social scenes.

However if you’re lucky enough to catch a glimpse of LA’s sparkling sunshine waves, rest assured your beach body is finely tuned to the beat of holiday. Continue indulging in white, eat ice-cream and wear your board shorts because summer will pass and although fall will make itself noticeably endearing with new added adventures, it will also Tame our Tans!

What’s a Day out in Malibu without some nice Jewish Boys?

Beach love and sunny perfect Malibu go hand in hand, especially when you began at the Chocolate Box Café. If you’re somewhat of a chocoholic then you’ll definitely appreciate that precise moment when asked to choose between at least ten different chocolate shavings to make what I thought was going to be a simple café mocha. Forget simple it was amazing!

The Malibu Colony bounces with gleeful surprises. I’m very literate and get easily excited about new school of thought. Luckily next door to Chocolate Box, Kitson stood, providing intellectuals the perfect opportunity to catch up on necessary summer reading. It’s like a Barnes and Nobles except they only stock their shelves with absolute must reads like the Geektionary.

Not only did the Kitson books smell of knowledge, but there was a book signing that day too. Sort-of a book signing, depending on how one would classify the modern day book, do calendars still count as books? I mean if the Kindle is included, I don’t know why the calendar should be excluded, especially if the Nice Jewish Boys made an appearance to sign a copy while simultaneously working on their Malibu tans.

I think their maybe some nice Jewish girls in there to.

Fashion Trend Forward is Back

Fashion Trend Forward has been on a little hiatus the last couple of months. It’s not that I wasn’t concerned and focused on trends, lifestyle, fashion, lit, I was reevaluating my newfound passion for pretending to know how to karaoke sing while finishing my thesis in English Lit and Rhetorical Theory. I’ve mastered exactly one song which shall remain anonymous for the time being! However with all jokes aside and a writing style that has mastered the compounds of comedy saturated in Fashion’s splendor…. Fashion Trend Forward is back!

Thank you for your continued comments, always Trend Forward Appreciated.

Gossip Girl Pretty in Pink Fashion

Wednesday, April 27, 2011 23:43

Gossip Girls pretty in pink fashion wasn’t the only buzz captivating audience members as Blair’s prince was about to sweep her off her French pumps. Lilly may have been on house arrest but the pink party dress was meant to captivate love for couture. Of course Sarena Van Der Woodsen was impeccably dressed in Pink Marchesa from the spring 2010 collection. And if by chance you still needed a quick lesson in style and an education in Marchesa, Oscar De La Renta and BCBG than the Pink Party would have been perfectly accompanied by a fruity drink to hush the Gossip.
